Glyn Jones’ journey into the world of music began in 1980 when he bought his first 12” record—Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight”—a piece of vinyl he still treasures to this day. From that moment, his passion for sound was unstoppable.
Back in the early days, he was experimenting with two belt-drive turntables, crafting mixtapes on cassette, and blasting them through the ghetto blaster down Pepys Walk. The electrifying sounds of Hip Hop and Electro in the ’80s ignited his creativity, but it was in the late ’80s when he first heard the pulse of house music that everything changed. That driving electronic beat hit like a revelation—“What is this? I love it!”
His love for dance music took him deep into the heart of the M25 rave scene during ’88 and ’89—the legendary Second Summer of Love—where he discovered the true magic of raving. It was more than just music; it was a movement, an experience, a way of life.
DJing became his obsession—a craft that allowed him to shape and transform music, blending sounds to take people on a journey. From vinyl to CDs, to digital controllers, he was always pushing forward, always evolving. In 2000, he picked up his first controller, a Hercules MK1 from DJ Huck Finn, a piece of history he still owns today. And now, even DJing in VR, he continues to embrace innovation, always seeking new ways to fuel his passion.
Though his vinyl collection has streamlined from 9,000 to 4,000 records, it remains his pride and joy, filled with classics that have defined his sets over the years. But as any true DJ knows, the search never stops. That perfect record is always out there, waiting to be found, and it’s the hunt that keeps the fire burning.
Glyn’s love for dance music spans genres, from House to Drum & Bass, but his heart beats strongest for Deep Funky House—a sound that transports him back to the golden days of original house music. At the core, though, it’s all about one thing: making people dance and smile. As much as the history Glyn has with dance music, he is always inspired by new music and likes to mix the old with the new to capture peoples emotion on the dancefloor.
Now, teaming up with Steve and Sean, he’s on a mission to bring those euphoric vibes back to Salisbury with No Gimmicks—a movement dedicated to pure music, proper parties, and nothing but good energy.
